WHAT DO WE DO?

We are an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to the design, formulation and implementation of multi-sectoral programs and projects that contribute to environmental and socio-economic development in Peru.

We provide support and tools that enable the development of knowledge on climate change and climate justice.

We carry out training, knowledge transfer, research and awareness activities in the areas of agriculture, livestock, housing, water, education, culture, health and social inclusion.

WHY WE WORK IN THE CORDILLERA BLANCA

The Cordillera Blanca is the area with the highest concentration of tropical glaciers in the world. This characteristic makes it very vulnerable to climate change. In recent decades, the melting of glaciers has generated new lakes and increased the volume of existing ones.

Although water is a source of life, for Andean communities it can also represent a risk. An avalanche or the overflowing of a lagoon can destroy a city like Huaraz in a matter of hours, and in Peru we remember similar events in 1941 and 1970.
